  1. Hi Dr Tay,

There has been quite some bad publicity in the press lately for Cervarix, have you come across any bad side effects of this vaccine amongst your patients?

I understand that this vaccine works best for girls 7-16 years before they become sexually active. Will there be any benefits no matter how small for sexually active 30+ ladies?

    Thank you!

  2. So far there has been no bad side effects amongst our patients. The specialists have looked into the UK case and concluded that Cervarix was not the cause.

Yes, there will be benefits for sexually active 30+ ladies although it will be smaller. It is worth noting that in Malaysia, the vaccination is recommended for ladies up to 46 years of age.

  4. Hi Dr Tay,

I am currently still breastfeeding my 15th months old toddler. Can I get the vaccination?

    Tks

  5. At the moment the effect of vaccination on breast fed infants has not been evaluated in clinical studies so Cervarix should only be used when the possible advantages outweigh the possible risks.

  8. Hi Dr Tay,

I do have plan to have a baby now.
Can I still take Cervarix vaccination now?
Can I get pregnant during the 1st 6 mth after the 1st Cervarix vaccination?
Will there be any side effect on my baby if I do get pregnant before I've completed all the 3 vaccination

    Thanks.

  9. It is not advisable to take the vaccination during pregnancy because we are still not sure if there are any effects on the baby. If you have taken 2 jabs and fall pregnant, then the 3rd should be delayed until after the pregnancy. But best to plan so that you complete all three before falling pregnant

  11. hi. what will the doctor do/ask before the vaccination? and what is pap smear?

    ReplyDelete
  12. The doctor will just ask a few questions about the patients history and answer any questions about the injection.

A Pap Smear is a screening test where cells from the Cervix is sampled to see if there is any evidence of cancer.

  13. Hi,

I have taken one jab recently and would like to ask if it is possible that i take the second and third jab from Karri Family Clinic? Is so, what is the price of the 2 jabs?

  14. Hi,

I am not a virgin and my mum wants me to take this jab, would the doctor ask any questions pertaining to my virginity or do any checks (upon which he may or may not discover my broken hymen)?

  15. You do not have to be a virgin to take the shot. So no doctor will ever need to examine you or even ask the question.

I just took the cervarix vacination yesterday & today i'm having redness & itching all over my hands & parts of my legs. Moreover, I read that these are some of the side effect. Is this serious & do I have to consult a doctor ? Or would this itching & redness subside in a few days?

  18. If the redness and itching does not subside, please go back to the clinic.
